[Biostimulants and amino acids]

Agricultural biostimulants improve the physiological processes of the crop, which makes them more efficient. These composites stimulate different routes of the plant metabolism in order to improve the vigour of the crop, the performance of the harvest and the fruit quality and post-harvest life.

Amino acids are organic composites that contain an amino group [-NH2] and a carboxyl group [-COOH]. They are the constituents of proteins and, thus, provide plants with the ability to have enzymes, structural supports or defence elements, among others. Thus, a crop that has a good amino acid availability will resist unexpected stressful situations, such as frosts, heat shocks or periods of drought better. Amino acids also improve the performance and the quality of production due to a better development of flowers and fruits.

Amino acids may be applied via irrigation or by foliar application.
