[CitriXL]

Citrus fruit growth and development is an extremely complex process that is affected by hormonal, metabolic and environmental factors. All these factors influence the achievement of an optimal commercial calibre for the fruits, which is, together with the increase in production per hectare, one of the primary objectives of any citrus producer.

In order to fight these problems and manage to increase production and fruit quality, farmers have used hormone-based products present in the market, which may cause some secondary problems (e.g., reduction in the subsequent budding and flowering), in addition to being subject to regulations to prohibit their use, or by the market itself, which requires zero waste products or even organic products that do not allow the use of this type of hormones.

In [naturKhem] we have developed the [CitriXL] technology, which arises from a great number of scientific works regarding the calibre deficiency of citrus fruits. Based on these evidences, the R&D&I department of [naturKhem] suggested a research project. The primary objective of this research was to analyse the effect of the application of different biostimulant formulas free of hormones regarding the physiology, production and quality of the fruits.

In addition, different physiological parameters were analysed, such as the foliar levels of proline, malonyldialdehyde (MDA), abscisic acid, jasmonic acid and salicylic acid. At the end of the experimental period, production and technical organoleptic characteristics of the fruit were estimated to assess the good results of [CitriXL]. }
