Agriculture is currently highly developed, in a situation where the market is global and very demanding. In addition, regulations regarding the use of different substances that have been used to fight the challenges that farmers face are increasingly strict. This is the case of hormones.

One of the primary needs in agriculture is to reduce post-harvest problems in order to achieve long-lasting fruits without losing quality, and thus be able to sell these fruits in foreign markets. For this purpose, it must be achieved that the cell walls of the fruit skin develop correctly, which allows to prevent different physiological issues and thus maintain fruit quality after it is harvested for a longer time.

Thus, in [naturKhem], we have developed the [Elixir] technology, which arises from a great number of scientific works related to the cell walls of the fruit skin. Based on these studies, [naturKhem] presented an investigation project together with the R&D&I department, the Universidad Jaume I of Castellon. The principal objective of the investigation project that lasted for 10 months was to analyse the effect of the application of different hormone-free biostimulant products or derivatives on the fruit skin and its post-harvest response.

For this study, foliar treatments with [Elixir] technology were performed, and physiological and biochemical measures were taken regularly; the equatorial diameter and weight loss of the fruits were established. In addition, malonyldialdehyde (MDA) levels on the outer peel were analysed as stress markers, together with the endogenous concentration of abscisic, jasmonic and salicylic acids. At the end of the experimental period, production measures were also taken regarding the technical organoleptic characteristics of the fruit and its post-harvest performance.
